Windows Powershell Ise Code To AdaptHow exactly can this be accomplished The is a blog post here, but I dont fully understand it: Can anyone explain this and make it a little easier to understand, maybe a step by step in order what to do I hate doing PowerShell without the ISE, it makes things so much easier and allows me to quickly change pieces of my code to adapt variables to different parts of my infrastructure. I dont understand why this wasnt automatically included in 6 and 7. It was so nice. Are most people using PowerShell 7 now with their scripts I know how to get the PID of Powershell, but how do I know which process it is since you apparently already need a PowerShell instance already open to run the commands (I guess you find your PID of your first instance before running the first command so you already know which one will be the new one - sound right) Once you finally get the PID, where do you put it in the script Where it says ProcessID, do you replace that with the PID number pass that process ID to the constructor for the NamedPipeConnectionInfo class I dont exactly understand what this means or how to do it. I figure someone else here does though after you put this in: Host.PushRunspace ( Runspace ) What are you supposed to do then How do you launch the ISE w PowerShell 7. It is supposed to automatically launch after putting that in, or do you need to go run something I tried to mess around with this, but couldnt exactly figure it out. Can someone dumb the entire process down for me I wish I could have figured it out myself, but I dont know where I was going wrong. Or if there is an easier way altogether to get PowerShell 7 running with the ISE, please explain. I wish there was just a YouTube video I can watch that shows it step by step, but this is the easiest I can get. Why go through all this trouble for an unsupported solution while there is a perfectly good (and better) alternative like Visual Studio Code available There is a reason MSFT dropped the ISE from PSv6 and beyond. I actually didnt know you could use Visual Studio to do your Scripting with the various VMware Modules including PowerCLI. This is something I can definitely do on my home system when scripting. Windows Powershell Ise Upgrade To TheI dont know how to make visual studio upgrade to the latest version of PS and load the modules, but if its the same as just using the regular ol powershell commands, then thats pretty easy. If you have a good sourcearticle for making the migration of your work from the PS interface to Visual Studio and beyond, Id love to read it. Are there any books out that cover this at all To add to the endless of IT books I intend to read Im actually eager to try it now. However, I am restricted to loading Visual Studio on a system at work. They are extremely strict on what and where you load things, licensing, etc. Just installing something without going through a lot of red tape is considerably difficult. We have a server that we RDP to which everyone uses to run and save scripts from. Therefore, I would like to use the latest version 7 with the ISE at work, instead of continuing to use the 5.1.x version. If I make changes, I usually make the scope to the current user - me. Windows Powershell Ise Software Is FreeEven if the software is free, it has to go through a review board, testing, and other stuff before it gets put on the list of applications youre allowed to install. Also there is a subclass of software youre allowed to install on a server vs a desktop.
